It's starting to feel real! This week I ticked off a few exciting things on my La Dolca Vita prep list. First up—flights booked! I'm flying with Qatar (they had great options into Rome), and I had a bit of help locking it in from the lovely team at iSutherland Tours, who many of you will have heard from already. If you’ve been chatting with them about your own flights, you should have all the details you need—if not, it might be worth checking in.

I also treated myself to the Lonely Planet Italy guide (it’s such a good all-rounder) and their Great Experiences: Tuscany book, which is full of charming local finds and slower ways to explore. Both have officially taken up permanent residence on my bedside table.

And… since my Italian vocabulary doesn’t go much further than ciao and vino, I’ve started brushing up with Duolingo’s free version. It’s been fun, and I’m now dangerously close to confidently ordering un caffè con latte, senza zucchero—a small win, but I’ll take it!

I’d love to know—how’s your trip prep going?

Have you started planning your travel? Are you dusting off any Italian phrases? Are you just happily dreaming of pasta and piazzas?

Comment below, or send me a note—I’d love to hear where everyone’s at as we count down to April 2026.

A bit of 'la dolce vita' to keep us going (those in Australia) during the cold months. If you become a member to this site (I believe) we can share thoughts, make comments & introduce ourselves!

Jac's Notes:

Hey travel team, with a special birthday coming up, I thought I'd visit places I love and experience something new.  I'd love you to join me on this beautiful trip to Italy.

I've tried to keep things within a reasonable budget, the key two week component (Rome, Tuscany, Cinque Terre)  would likely cost between $5500 and $8800. And then I'm also going to Lake Como and Puglia - its in the itinerary rough costs for this extension is: $1500 - $2000 (Como) & $3000 - $4500 (Puglia) You can choose to participate in as much or as little as you wish.

I do hope you'll come along.
